Greetings,

I apologise in advance if you consider this a redundant topic but I couldn't find a solid and recent answer from someone with similar experience.

Being a growing business, a year ago we developed our biggest web application and we are starting to have problems. The application imports about 4000 records every day and in one an half year the db ended up storing over 4 million records. Some of the documents contain attachment so we are using DAOS. We started archiving and keeping only 6 months worth of data in operational db which is not ideal for business.

Apart from some performance issues and general maintenance taking long, we experience data corruption. It looks like NSFs do not do well with this amount of data being created and deleted out of them every day as well. Also views containing near a million record take long to index, etc. And if I want to get itemised reporting out of this data it means having views 10 times bigger.

Through the hard way I learned that Domino is not perhaps the best solution for an application of this size. We have a considerable number of domino web applications that work well. So now I am looking for a solution to easily support our large applications What I am looking for is a highly scalable solution that can be integrated with our Domino environment. Websphere seem to be the way to go. How about a DB2 storage with Domino front-end?

Please share your experience and knowledge.

Cheers

Basir
